Just average breakfast fare about the same as I can do for myself at home. Still the service was good and the breakfast was ok.

I would give this place more stars because my breakfast was actually delicious but they just couldn't handle the day. My parents eggs were cold and the waitresses were running around. It's short staffing. Try this place when they have the staffing to handle the crowd and I bet it would be wonderful.

I was here back in May. First time since then, but they don't open for breakfast until after 8AM ! Since it was already after 9, I decided I was good.
It was a weekday, so only one section was open. Although I was by myself, I took a table instead of the bar. This section has 7 tables/4 tops and 12 bar stools.
Staff totaled 6, two were servers, they also attended to the bar.
Service was a tad slower than my previous visit, had to wait for coffee cup to be filled a couple of times. Coffee cups are rather small too.
I was pleasantly surprised that prices remained the same as they were 5 months ago. Nowadays these restaurants are raising menu prices 2-3 times per year.j Not here, at least not yet.
I got the omelet. It was fluffy, seemed small for three eggs, but I didn't leave hungry. Coffee was $2.
Except for Sporty's Cafe down the street, you won't find a cheaper breakfast.
I'm not including McDonald's here, that's a different style of restaurant altogether.
I'll be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 31, 2022Previous reviewI was probably in this place a couple of times after the covid shutdown. It was then I first noticed it was remodeled from what it looked like years ago.
I figured they were just trying to attract a younger patron. But this time I realized, it really is not trying to attract any particular group, it just needed a face lift.
I was by myself in the morning. The first thing I noticed was the age of the staff, very young compared to many of the other diners in town. Normally that could be a red flag....you know, lack of experience, lacky attitude, etc.
No, that was not the case here. The staff at Stanz was on top of their game, IMO. Even more so than those experienced waitresses who used to serve at the now defunct Renezvous. As soon as I walked in the door, they were attentive and ready to seat me. Seeing as I was only one, directed me to the bar. Nothing against the bar, the stools looked comfortable, but even by pre-covid standards, everyone was elbow to elbow. I opted for a table in the main dining room. I really don't like taking up a four-top, but the restaurant still wasn't in "wait for a table" mode.
My coffee and water arrived promptly...soon there after, the waiter came, and I gave him my order. Food arrived promptly and my coffee cup was never allowed to get below half. That's a winner in my book.
Prices were in line with any of the other breakfast restaurants in town....at least the ones that aren't trying to make a killing off the tourists. (Those places are found on the west side of Beacon Blvd. Downtown.
You pay your server directly here. I didn't realize that, so I was standing up front while my server went back to get things settled. Place was starting to get busy as I left. It was right around 10am on a weekend.May 17, 2016Previous reviewSmall little joint. They don't have a parking lot. No big deal.
Prices are reasonable. - Richard F.Williamsburg, VA4301Jan 6, 2023
We recently moved to Grand Haven and by luck found this jewel. My wife had a Philly steak and cheese, while I had the Polish plate. Both meals were amazing. A big tip off their food is great, we're all the locals eating at Stanz.
My wife and I highly recommend Stanz!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kevin O.Plymouth, MA2923Jul 12, 2022
Friendly and good service at Stanz!
My Bourbon Street Omelet with polish kielbasa was awesome!
My wife's American breakfast was disappointing as the hash browns were dry and the bacon was burnt and dry.
The good news was the Mimosas were generous and spot on!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9695298Oct 2, 2022
We came here because of the diverse menu that looked kid friendly. It was on the East side of Grand Haven, next to Frank's market. The beer was cheap and cold. The chicken fingers for the kids were made with real chicken and well seasoned. I had the polish plate... it was divine. Definitely a rival to the one at Legg's Inn and HALF the price. Delicious food. We will be back. Next time we want to sample the gumbo!

Stanz is a staple for the locals in the area. Food is consistent and pretty good. Portions are generous and drink refills are plentiful. Service has always been good.
stanz has two items I find in dad to be so good and on the same menu, polish platter and gumbo. The pierogies are great and the cabbage could be served at Pulaski days. The gumbo is a good approximation of the Louisiana staple with large chunks of chicken. It's a bit on the mild side for my taste but still good.
Friendly quiet atmosphere for anytime of the day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Claudia A.Richardson, TX41152Aug 13, 2023
Floors were filthy, sticky. Food was too greasy. Coffee was good. Service not so much

I live in the neighborhood and my dog goes to the salon across the street. I had seen the sign for Stanz but hadn't thought about going until I saw some of the other reviews on Yelp.
I stopped in on a snowy Saturday morning. The place was pretty quiet and they were training a couple of new guys that were just starting. I ordered my breakfast.. a simple one of eggs, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit (with a side of gravy). Was delicious and my coffee never dropped below 75%full.
I liked it so much I came back the next morning and had the Greek Hash Plate. Again, top notch and the service was aces.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
