We live in a rental. The hot water heater went out. A tech came by, re-lit the pilot light, said it was fixed, and was leaving. He was here for less than 10 minutes. I informed him that I had already tried that and that the pilot wouldn't stay lit. I also informed him that the green LED light pulses a certain number of times to alert to what is wrong with the heater. He gave me a look like "lady, you don't know what you're talking about". He said that wasn't in his notes and that if it went out again, he would pre-order parts to have ready to fix it. Right after he left, I went downstairs and the pilot light was out again. I informed the PM, who informed McKellips. They ordered the part. The next day the same tech showed up. I was out, but my husband, who works from home, was here. He was in his office right next to the utility closet. The tech came in and out a few times, and then left without a word. My husband and I thought it was fixed, but when I looked, the pilot light was still out and the LED was still flashing an error code. Instead of informing my husband, our PM had to inform us the next day that the part was wrong and that another one would need to be ordered. Unfortunately, once the part arrived, there was an emergency non-heat call so we are now six days without hot water. The tech should listen to the customer, no matter what gender. I could have told him the pilot light only stays let for about 10 minutes (timed by camera). He was unwilling to listen to me. I am not new to home ownership, and my mechanic father taught me how to troubleshoot all manner of engines, furnaces, hot water heaters, electrical, plumbing, etc.

Had a hot water heater installed by this company. They came out last fall and did my central air and furnace. I had a quote for hot water heater then. I just wasn't ready then. I called them a few months later, they came right out and installed. They couldn't be any nicer. Quick and easy. I would recommend this company to any one that asks!

Steve and TraceyOct 5, 2019Previous reviewI recently had several quotes from area and out of the area, heating and cooling businesses. I was amazed how many companies never showed up. Then a company that came out and never sent a quote. Oh , and the ones who came out and their quote was timely, however, the quotes were all over the price scale. I went with McKellips and Sons. They came out and did the job. I had an issue with the type of filter they put in. They came back out, and fixed the issue, promptly and courteously. The office was very friendly, and willing to work with us as far as scheduling. I had a furnace and central air installed. I am going to have them install my hot water heater next spring. Very happy with this company.

I would not suggest using this company for any reason. We had them repair/replace an air conditioner under warranty. They installed the new air conditioner incorrectly and without fixing additional problems. By doing this, they ruined the new conditioner and didn't stand behind their work.

Scheduled a furnace inspection with them with 2 weeks notice of the date of inspection. They call to reschedule so I make arrangements to leave work early and they don't show up. When I call them they say tech has my number and will call when he is on the way....currently 1.5 hours late....still waiting for a call. Would not recommend these guys to anyone.
