Kirby House

There are no better french fries in the United States than at Kirby's. I love the food there. The cashew chicken with real chicken is outstanding as is the starter that has many different kinds of vegetables and peanut sauce.

Great location in Grand Haven and cool bar area.
We ordered drinks and appetizers. Appetizers were good, nothing out of this world but good.
Our servers were very friendly.

Update: Ordered the pan seared grouper. The fish itself was okay, but the rice was way over seasoned/too salty. Ended up paying $25 for just eating fish. I'd recommend ordering the grouper sandwich to save money, but you also get more food (amazing fries instead of awful rice). I would have complained but the waitress never asked how it was. I also had to ask for silverware for myself since it wasn't included.

Great views and a fun indoor gaming room. Would recommend for drinks and pizza, but not the entrees (see fish taco review below).


First time I was here:
Average fish tacos, poor service, but excellent follow-up customer service. The waitress was having personal issues (struggled talking, was fidgety, twitchy, etc.), but she also was slow with taking orders. The fish tacos were dry and the coating/seasoning wasn't great, but the veggie toppings were fresh/good.

Lastly. Since we had such poor service, a nice manager offered to give the whole table 20% off. The restaurant will see me again since she made that offer, otherwise, I wouldn't have come back.

I think the other reviews speak volumes of what to expect when you eat here. I did not have high expectations. The food was okay. It was a nice quick spot to grab a bite after a day at the beach. There was no wait. The server was nice and attentive. The best thing we ate was the french fries. They were hot and alittle crunchy! But the grouper sandwich was a big flop. The jerk seasoning was way over powering. I would definitely not recommend it. My husband did not mind the chicken sandwich but it was not great.
I am not sure if I would ever go there again. It is such a disappointment because they have TONS of staff and a great location! But if you can't make good food ... no one will want to come back. No pictures were taken because it was not worthy of a picture. I was being considerate with giving 3 stars. My kid had the cheese pizza and did not complain.

First time here and have to say it's amazing! There was no wait, we sat outside in the warm sun. Beautiful day for it. The atmosphere is fantastic for being next the main road. Not so loud, a nice place to walk around. The waiter was nice, patient and checked up on us consistently. The restrooms are beautiful and clean. They even have wait seating in the bathroom. My fiance told me they are even known to be a haunted restaurant. Which makes it even a better reason to come back. We love our haunted places and the stories told.
The food was omg over the top amazing!! I can't even say how good. It was so good I don't have the words to describe it! It's an experience you can only get when you come and eat it yourself! We plan to be back!

Outside patio was very nice. Our server was new and we had a group of 7. He did great. The food was ok, I had the vegetarian wet burrito. It had great potential but the inside was just gardein chicken(delish) and mostly rice. It was huge!! And filled with mostly rice so that was disappointing. If you were to order I would definitely get more added inside like beans/veggies/lettuce/ tomato. Overall a good experience though.

Server was very kind and very professional.
Food seemed very fresh. I like the different rooms to give the place multiple different atmospheres.
Always look forward to eating here when in Grand Haven.

Ordered a pizza with "fresh" mozzarella, pepperoni, and jalapeño.

The sauce is nothing to remember, couple that with limited toppings, and you have a very forgettable pizza experience.

The only thing to remind you, or haunt you, of this poor flavor experience, is the bank statement reminding of the regretful decision you made in ordering this when you could have had a better pizza experience buying from the frozen pizza section in Meijer.

Overall: meh.

Last I checked, CASH is still considered legal tender in America. Therefore, businesses should be COMPELLED to accept it in exchange for services.

I don't support pretentious restaurants that require their patrons to have a credit line to merit attention or service. While I am sure they won't miss my patronage, I would encourage those who also believe that paying with cash is still a RIGHT for Americans to try one of the many better restaurants in Grand Haven.

Overpriced and mediocre food. I had the burrito and it was 85% rice. Most of my party tried the chicken sandwich. Again, way overpriced for what you actually get. The Toasted Pickle's chicken sandwich is really where it's at. This location is fun but that was it. I was really rooting for this spot but it just wasn't worth it.
