What a beautiful restaurant, soft and soothing lighting with the most calming color scheme. Now for the delicious food. At our table, two were the perfectly cooked Steak fillets accompanied by the sweet and wonderful lobster tail. We ordered the mashed potatoes, but I was a little disappointed. I wished they were whipped and creamy. Other entrees were the carrots and mashed potatoes with their roasted chicken and a Seafood Risotto. Both were excellent choices. The cheesecake was delicious. The chocolate cake was dry. Our server, Todd, was very efficient and very helpful. Highly recommend for that special occasion. I did notice that the bar had a following for drinks.

My husband & I had reservations on a fairly busy Friday night. The restaurant was mostly full but there were some empty tables around us throughout our meal. I mention this because service was disorganized, if not a little chaotic. They seemed overwhelmed but not understaffed, which is an odd combination. Anyway, although we were served by committee, everyone was pleasant, we received everything we ordered, and the wait times were reasonable.
Apparently the interpretation of southern cooking is for everything, including my husband's ribeye, to be saturated in butter. His steak, my scallops, and the sides we shared were well-prepared, but the abundance of butter distracted from the other flavors. They have a fairly exotic drink menu. Our cocktails were good, however my husband was charged an extra $3 for the big ice cube in his after-dinner scotch.
Our experience wasn't genuinely "bad" but rather disappointing. So 3 stars sounds about right.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 27, 2023Updated review
Loved everything about Finns. The food, service and ambiance were all exceptional.
The lot behind the building has plenty of parking and an access door on the side of the building.
The cocktails are really good. The wine list is a little overpriced but has some good options.
For food I would recommend the swanky shrimp for an appetizer. Very easy to share and tasty.
I got the scallop entree and they were really good. I loved the pairing with seasonal peas.
For steaks the ribeye and filet were great. All cooked exactly to order.
For sides the Brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese were the best. The truffle fries are a good option too!
You can't go wrong with anything. Will definitely be back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0May 30, 2023Previous reviewDelicious steakhouse in Spring lake!
Came here on a Friday night with a group of 6. We had a reservation in advance and the service was great.
For appetizers I would recommend the shrimp. We got 2 orders for our group. We also tried the mussels but wasn't a fan of those.
For entrees there are so many good options - you can't go wrong with a filet. I was very impressed with the temperature being exactly what was ordered. Steakhouses usually overcook or undercook it but they got it perfect. I got the scallops which were phenomenal and had so many different flavor profiles.
For sides we shared the truffle fries, truffle Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts. The Mac and cheese was by far my favorite.
There is a decent wine list and plenty of unique cocktails. - 7149136Oct 7, 2023
We went here for his 36th bday dinner. We had planned to go home and get dressed up before going out but we ran out of time and decided to go in what we had been running errands in. Thankfully we fit in well enough. The ambiance is lovely, modern but still cozy.
We sat at the bar which was packed when we arrived around 8:00 on a Saturday night, but cleared out pretty quick. Our bartender/server was very attentive, friendly and personable.
He ordered a Paloma and I had bubbly with St Germaine. Both were delicious. Nothing particularly different about either, but exactly what they were supposed to be.
We started with 1/2 salads, he had the Caesar that had a sour vide egg, not happy about that, at all. It was not appetizing to look and didn't add to the salad - in our opinion. I didn't even want to taste it. I had the panzanella salad, which I really liked once I took out the sliced red onion, there was SO much onion. We looked like children with a side plate of a icky egg and a mound of red onions...
For our entrees he had the boneless ribeye and I had the petite filet. We both ordered our steaks cooked medium well, which I more cooked than we would typically order but our bartender mentioned that they typically undercook the steaks. They were cooked perfectly medium.
Entrees are served a la cart so we ordered the Brussel sprouts with goat cheese and macaroni and cheese. I'm pretty sure I've dreamt about those brussel sprouts, they were SO good. I took ALLLLL of the goat cheese, he doesn't like it. There was quite a bit, but I wasn't mad. The macaroni and cheese was a tiny bit dry, but it was delicious.
We did not have dessert or an after dinner drink, it was late and it looked like they were getting ready to close, although we did not feel rushed to wrap it up.
We will likely go back. It was expensive and it's a nice option for a special occasion, but this isn't a spot I see us frequenting on a regular basis.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jul 30, 2023
Well, after a long day on the lake towards the end of the day and we found this Restraunt was open. Hooray. Great reviews on yelp.
We were about 90 minutes away from closing were able to get a table right away
We walked in and the ambience was awesome. I felt a little under under dress haven't come off the lake. The hostess made us feel very welcome. I spied a table that I would like to have and lo and behold when she came back that was our table. You don't suppose she was watching me look around the room ?
So we looked over our menu and ordered our entrées drinks. It was perfect execution all the way around the food was great.
Once again you'll want to know what we ordered but I'm gonna keep it a secret as I am not writing this right after we dined, which is when my memory works the best. Just kidding. I had the fillet it was perfect. The Captain had the ribeye that was good again. Peggy had a salad and all was perfect. Here's the point. I don't believe you could go wrong ordering anything in this restaurant, it really be just a matter of your taste.
As far as what I recommend it absolutely, will definitely plan to come back again. I might put on a pair of slacks next time. We weren't the last to close down the bar but we're close to the last. An end to a perfect evening.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike W.Grand Haven, MI03Apr 14, 2024
My husband and I had dinner here last night. Our service was great, chop salad was great, but the $70 cowboy steak was not. It was more like you would get at the ponderosa. We were very disappointed on the quality. It was thin, full of fat and grizzle. We have been to Bowdies in East Grand Rapids many times, and their steaks are much more superior for the same price.

I love Finn's, the atmosphere is wonderful, but was disappointed my last few times there with friends from out of town.
I ordered their regular Burger, but didn't realize they changed it! I was disappointed regarding wanting their great burgers, but now they are doing two flat Smash Burgers on a bun, that I had a few weeks ago, and hated it. I guess it's the thing nowI asked if I could get their regular popular one, but they wouldn't do it. Please bring your regular burger back? It was incredible, and juicy. The Smash burger is dry and flavorless! The Shrimp appetizer was excellent, and so was the Wedge Salad.
On my previous visit, the oyster appetizer had so much cornmeal on the oyster, that it was a dried up ball on the end of the skewer, and you couldn't taste it!
Also, when you make a martini, please fill the glass, don't bring half full
I hate to complain; which I did to the server, but just a sorry
Do reviews mean anything to the chef? I'm pretty easy to please, but when you pay these high prices, you expect to get quality food.
The server was very good, and attentive.
I gave 3 Stars only because they they stopped their great burger!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mwalt 5.Grand Haven, MI02Apr 14, 2024
Service was excellent. Waiter was attentive and did well. ordered the Cowboy Ribeye and the wedge. Wedge was excellent and believe the blue cheese dressing is house made at Finn's. Believe they need to drop the 'Chophouse" from the name. The Cowboy was less than 1/2" thick, chewy, and fatty. It came to the table and was in my estimation about 8-10 oz. Was thinking it would be more like a Cowboy you get at Bowdie's (Saugatuck & E Grand Rapids) or Chicago Chop House. It was more like Ponderosa. Ordered it medium rare, but it was so thin I doubt the chef could achieve that!
Ambiance is fine and I will give it another try, but won't order a steak there again. Some in our party had two different chicken offerings and thought they were very good. The drinks were good and fairly priced although they do charge you for olives; it's only a buck, but for optics they should just raise the drink price a buck. Looks pretty silly for a restaurant trying to achieve a high end status to put a dollar charge on your bill for an olive!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 6, 2023
This is my second visit to this establishment. The first time it was above average, but it was not great because they were out of a lot of items. Decided to give this a second try, and the service was definitely outstanding. Our server, Cate could not have done a better job. The food was definitely better than the first time though the steak could've used a little more salt. We ordered the steak tartare and it was excellent but they did not provide enough crostini so our server had to bring a few more. I ordered the New York strip, and I wanted it medium rare with a Pittsburgh char. It was cooked to perfection but it needed a dash of seasoning. I also ordered a side of brussels sprouts and a side of mashed potatoes. The brussels sprouts were excellent and so were the mashed potatoes but they were cold when they arrived. The server was quick to replace it. I was not able to have dessert, but I did take their six layer cake to go. I had it the next day, and it was outstanding. Overall, it was a very good experience and they are getting four stars for the cold potatoes, and the lack of seasoning on the steak.

We love Finn's, and feel so fortunate to have such a good restaurant in Spring Lake (along with VB and TT). It's the perfect place for a special occasion. Beautifully decorated for Christmas, the restaurant is so tasteful. This evening we celebrated our Anniversary and started out with a half wedge salad. I had the shrimp and scallops on Risotto. Delicious! My wife had the airline chicken. It was tender, tasty, and moist with mashed potatoes and a delicious wine gravy sauce. Our side of garlic sautéed mushrooms also very tasty. Finished by splitting a crème brûlée. Yum. The service is professional and first class. Never bothering you, but there when need them. Friendly and helpful. Our waitress even offer to take our picture. Whatever the occasion, we recommend Finns. In the summers check out their rooftop. In the winter they offer a pasta- wine special at a really nice price.
