I'll admit it: I didn't check Yelp prior to booking this hotel for my recent stay in Grand Haven. Had I done so, I would have looked elsewhere for my accommodations. From what I read here, this place is merely a step above sleeping in a box on the street. Trusting very angry customers isn't always the best policy.

The Baymont in Grand Haven is not a five-star hotel. It's a three-star hotel. I found the staff to be very friendly, helpful, and frankly respectable. Service is slow due to staffing issues, and given these limitations, I believe the employees who are showing up to work each day are doing the very best they can. It's a shame when a business has to post signs telling customers they'll be eighty-sixed for abusing staff members.

Our room, a standard with a king-sized bed, was acceptable. It was clean when we arrived, and it had all the amenities one would expect. I'd like to know what brand of mattress they use: the bed was extremely comfortable. I noted a lack of ventilation in the bathroom, which has led to mildew. I also feel the in-room entertainment services could be upgraded. It would be nice to see a smart TV with streaming services.

The pool seemed nice, but I didn't use it. The fitness center is out-of-commission. Given their lack of staff, I still found the breakfast acceptable.

Relax. This hotel isn't that bad. Grand Haven is a beautiful place where you needn't spend unnecessary time in a hotel room.

This hotel has bedbugs. (See picture) front desk would not refund or reduce our room or MY GRANDPARENTS. I have also tried to reach any of the numbers I was given ...which do not work. I have not received any communication from the number / email I gave the desk. The place itself it in bad shape, the bugs, the service... it doesn't deserve the full star :(

PSA: There is no elevator, so if you are looking for Handicap accessible room please call in advance and see if they have any room on the first floor.
This is a motel 6 but with a different sign slapped on it. For starters, there were multiple pubs in the bathtub.. the shower was curtain was dirty, disgusting, and mildewy. Although, we did find a nice surprise in the freezer banquet spaghetti and meatballs.
Hopefully, you do not need any extra pillows, towels, and trash bags. Also, we had 3 separate keys and we had to get new hotel room keys every time we left the hotel 3 different times. Overall, -9.5/10 experience.
**disclaimer: this was not our first or second
choice of a hotel, the original hotel over booked and we were relocated to this by the other hotel.

Lipstick on a pig. Hotel is musty and carpet stained. Black mildew or mold in one of our bathrooms. Breakfast is a joke, hotel desk is rude. Gym is a storage room. Just a dirty place. And no elevator!

We just walked out of Baymont by Wyndham Grand Haven after checking in losing our prepaid nights stay. The room stunk so bad my husband could not breath. The floors were filthy. When I went to the front desk to tell them we were leaving he didn't ask why and took him so long to cancel the next two nites.
No questions, no sorry nothing. So very very rude.

HORRIBLE experience, first of all our room wasn't ready even at 4pm, the staff was probably the rudest people I have ever encountered and walked around in their socks. We had to go purchase sheets to use because ours had God knows what kind of stains on them and they said they did not have anymore sheets, we asked for an extra pillow and was told to fold up a towel and use that. There was urine all over the bathroom when we came into the room, I had to go ask for tape to keep the dresser drawers shut as they would open all the way on their own and my daughter walked I to one cutting her leg open pretty good. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. We paid $450 for 2 nights in this DUMP!!!!! oh and no elevator so have fun tracking up the stairs with your luggage and holding children

If I could give this place zero stars I would. After arriving after check in time and getting our keys we went to our room only to find out the room wasn't clean. Then we were told it wasn't on the list to be cleaned.

After 40 minutes they told our party of 10 they found rooms only to find out someone else was already in the rooms...this was revealed after we walked in on them. The women at the front desk laughed about it. We got a refund and left to another hotel.

[ SUMMARY: Disgusting housekeeping ( hair and dirty linens left in rooms, dust everywhere, smears of who knows what on walls .... All of this was present in MULTIPLE rooms for our large party, not just one room ), rude staff and management, dilapidated, just plain GROSS. ]

I travel for a living. I spend 25-35 weeks a year in hotel rooms. I have had to stay at the cheapest if the cheap all the way to the 5 star hotels. Just depend on clients recommendation for lodging. I say this only to further weigh my disgust. This is in the bottom 1% of hotels I've ever stayed at.

While traveling with family for a wedding this weekend we were "forced" to stay here due to a large group rate ( come to find out they discounted us 4 dollars a room ) so we didn't have any choice. From the minute we walked in the hotel we were greeted by the manager and a woman behind the counter. They acted as if we were bothering them by trying to check in. They had tried to over charge us for one of our rooms, and when we tried to get them to reprint the sheets the woman acted as if it was actually painful that she had to help me. The amount of attitude she gave us was deplorable. Mind you, we haven't even gotten to the room.

Once we finally obtained the documents, we headed to the room. When we walked in we had a little one that had to use the bathroom. We entered the bathroom and immediately saw a mess of other people's hair stuck to the wall, dust covering every horizontal surface, wood shavings and sawdust all over the floor, beds that were not made, crap all over the mirrors, broken hardware for the tub just sitting on the tub ( all of these things have pictures that were uploaded ) and crap all over the floor. This, come to find out, wasn't even the worst. One of the other rooms we got was never even cleaned at all and had dirty linen piled on the bed when we walked in.

I then called to have the room cleaned again, and they came about 1.5 hours later, even though I was told she was about 5 minutes away. Once she left, the ONLY thing that changed was it smelled like bleach and the hair was no longer on the wall, but was on the floor of the tub, and on the tile outside the tub. DISGUSTING. The mirror was still dirty, the floor was still dirty, nothing was dusted, nothing was vacuumed, nothing else was touched!!!!

Management has not done anything to make any of us in our party feel like we are valued or important. They act like we only here to bother them.

The owner of this property should feel ashamed of their staff. To have so much money invested in a property to have such horrible staff providing service, is just unacceptable.

This is one of the worst properties I have ever stayed at. I really hope others keep on driving.

We had to stay here for my son's college visit. The bathroom was moldy. The carpet is so disgusting I would not let my family walk on it without shoes. I cannot believe we paid $230 a night for this dump
. Vent with tons of dirt. Moldy bathroom yuck!!!

Dishonest and shady. I stayed at the Baymont Hotel for 2 days and the room was clean. Some of the front desk help was friendly and some were not friendly at all.
I left my shoes behind, called and was told to send a pre paid postage box for their safe return. After spending $30 in Priority Postage to get my shoes back I was told that they were mailed, several times. Each time was a lie. The postage had tracking on it and the box was never mailed. The manager has repeatedly lied to me, promised to call back and never does.
Just watch your things and don't trust them if they tell you they are going to do something.
