What an amazing surprise tonight's dinner was! The new menu is so delightful and complex but comfortable and delicious. We had so many fantastic things - for apps: Prosciutto Crostini, Baked Brie and Mussels. The sauce with the mussels was so good just to dip bread in!
I had the filet and I have to tell you the char crust is beyond good. Every bite was so delicious, and I had to slow down and dip my bite in the béarnaise sauce to enjoy the amazing taste. The Caesar dressing is great. Oh and try the risotto- it's soooo good! Topped off with crème brûlée it was such a great meal.
We really enjoyed the ambience and Shelby, our server was attentive, informative and fun.
Get out of the house and get to Snug. You will be happily surprised at the change.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 4, 2023
4/5 for my food, 3/5 for waitservice and a few other aspects, so this is an average 3/5 for me.
We've been staying in Grand Haven at a VRBO this weekend and were looking for something for dinner. I suggested Snug Harbor even though I've never been, because it's right on the water.
There are two patios, one at top and one on bottom, and also indoor seating. Each one has it's own host stand, I believe. We ended up eating at the patio on top.
I had a caramel cheesecake martini, which was delicious, and a Thai salad with crispy chicken, which was also good - similar to Panera's Asian chicken salad. My fiance had a Thai shrimp dish and our friends had a chicken Thai dish and fish and chips. The fish and chips were apparently burnt and our waitress realized it at the end and took it off their bill, which was great customer service.
Waitservice was okay but a bit slow. Prices were also high but you're paying for the view; my salad would've been $19 without chicken and that's pretty expensive, it was like $26-27 with chicken I think. Cocktails actually weren't too overpriced, about $13 each.
Overall I'd return here but mostly for the view.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 20, 2023
Here's the thing about snug Harbor. We've been back there several times. We've eaten inside and outside. The view is great. The food is awesome. And the staff even better than that.
If you get the chance you should check it out. I don't believe you'll be disappointed.
I would drop names on the various staff members but I don't think it really matters because they all seem to operate to it outstanding level.
Needless to say, it's more fun in the summer than when it's cold and windy outside.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 2023Updated review
For the first time, we figured out we could sit on the lower deck on the waterside of the building. My husband had a burger and chips and I ordered a crunchy shrimp roll. He said his burger was fantastic and the crunchy shrimp roll was amazing. The shrimp was very crunchy, the sauce was great and the vegetables in the roll were crisp. We will be back for the roll alone!!

After a summertime hiatus, my husband and I visited Snug this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised that the wait was only 30 minutes at 630pm on a Saturday, so that was a bonus. I ordered one of the few things I can eat on the menu, the brisket bowl. I've had it the previous two times we've dined there, but this time, it was essentially a kid size portion, especially compared to the other times I've ordered it. There was a MINIMAL amount of brisket and it was mostly fat, just highly disappointed. My husband ordered a chicken wrap and there was ONE piece of chicken in it (a single chicken tender), along with a bag of chips, which for $15ish was incredibly disappointing as well. As much as I love the location, I don't foresee us going back ever again for anything beyond drinks. Sadly, it's one of the few waterfront restaurants in GH. - 54194317Oct 8, 2023
I was excited to visit Snug Harbor after being away from GH for 27 years. So trying to keep my memory v. current experience at bay was hard. Of course a remodel was done and I was not impressed. Felt empty and cold. I came with some friends to have drinks after dinner at another old establishment that was underwhelming also. But back to Snug, as we sat at the bar to have some cocktails and watch football. Low choices of Bourbon, only two, Woodford and Knob. Bar was messy and had clutter on floor. Bartender did not appear to knowledgeable and this goes past trying or wanting to learn. With the appearance of the redesigned Lower level I would expect craft cube cocktails. Looks like I will hang on to my awesome memories.

Discovered Snug Harbor hired a new executive chef that was revamping the whole menu, and so we had to go. Everything was outstanding. Cooked perfectly, seasoned, beautifully, plated elegantly. It was an overall great experience, and I couldn't believe I was at Snug Harbor. It was incredible and all of you need to go out and try this new menu.

Some of these reviews I just don't get. first time here sunday night in September. Service from greeting till left was Excellent. Roast beef was nice sandwhich and wanted light so took half home for lunch tomorrow.
Wife had Thai salad that was excellent. view was as described. Beautiful on closed in protective deck. Couldn't be happier. It's not a fine dinning chop house or American Grille and beer house. It's a really nice place for a meal with happy friendly people. Highly recommend it. note parking not easy so plan to arrive a bit early but a nice free lot about 1 block west on opposite side of street worked fine.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 22, 2022
A solid 2 1/2 so I'll round up to 3. The third star is for the view from the patio. Two stars for the food and service. There were a number of open tables when we arrived, yet it still took dinner almost an hour to arrive at the table. My husband and I shared fish and chips. I would not order this again. It tasted like fish with flour coating and was so overdone that the edges were quite chewy. The fries were good, and the coleslaw was just like you find in a tub in the grocery store. Service was beyond slow, and it didn't appear to be due to staff shortages. On the bright side, it was nice sitting on the patio with a view of the bustling street on one side, and the lake on the other, so that brought the stars up to three. I could go on about what I didn't like, but why? :) I hope that your experience is 5 stars and my experience wasn't the norm.

I've been to snug harbor a few times and have always had a pleasant experience. However the last time I went, the prices seemed to have gone way up. Not sure if the quality of the food is worth the $$$ (especially in the winter time!) but it is a nice spot on the water and a grand haven staple.
