Super convenient and nice small airport. Would definitely use again! Our daughter flew in there and it was a simple pickup. Gotta love small airports! Yay!

Down in and out of here a couple of times. Nice little airport. Not sure when southern airways started flying in and out instead of the larger airlines but it's an interesting flight! The nice thing about this airport is it's easy to get in and out of. TSA is pretty easy to get thru as well. Just know you aren't being thru TSA until 20 minutes before your flight, but the size of the airport you don't need to be there 30 minutes before your flight leave.

There is something to be said about small airports. They're quaint, they're easy to get in and out of, and you usually don't have to wait long for your bags.
I'm a fairly frequent flyer. I've worked for airlines for 14 years and I've been just about everywhere. Last weekend though was my first trip that included the Muskegon County Airport.
I hadn't been to the airport before so I got there a little earlier than I normally would.. maybe about an hour before my "boarding time".
Long term parking ($10/day) was super close to the terminal with only about a dozen cars in it. Ticket counter had no line and Security wasn't open yet. When they did open, I went through the PreCheck line (the only one in it) and was at the gate in seconds. The next time I fly out of this airport, I'll arrive much closer to the departure time.
There are two gates and one waiting area inside security. No restrooms inside security. Vending machines and a "help yourself" coffee machine sit outside security and serve as the only food you can get here. People don't sit around at this airport.. they come, they fly out, then return and then they leave. The same agent who checked me in at the ticket counter was the same one at the gate.. the same one who drove the deicing truck and the same one who pulled the jetbridge.
When I returned, I was out the door and to my car before the pilots had a chance to shut down the engines. I ran out, started my car to let it warm up, and went back inside to get my bag. The same guy who was there when I departed was the same one who was there again doing everything. My bag was the third one off the line.. but there were only 10 people on my flight and only about 4 waiting on bags).
I knew from the area that the airport couldn't be very big. My research showed that United was the only carrier and they currently only have two flights a day here, and it's a regional CRJ-200 operated by Skywest that serves the airport. I'm guessing United receives incentives in order to operate here from the community.
For a no frills airport with commercial traffic less than 10 minutes from my house, it sure beats driving to Grand Rapids. Prices were about the same as GRR, making it a no brainer.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tyler M.Cincinnati, OH38726333851Jun 26, 2018
This is adorable. It's like a little baby airport.
The whole building is pretty much a tiny tiny lobby with a hallway that contains security, and then a waiting room. The "arrive 2-hours early" rule HARDLY seems appropriate for this little airport.
For such a small flight coming in, it did seem to take baggage a little long to arrive at baggage claim, but it also only took about three minutes to walk to the lobby where the baggage claim was... so maybe I'm just being picky. While I didn't interact with any staff, I DID enjoy the charm that this little airport was putting into the world. It's also a beautiful airport to land in, as you watch Lake Michigan disappear under your feet as you slide onto the runway.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kevin S.Chicago, IL1611313Jun 13, 2019
As a frequent flyer this airport is the only way to get to Chicago and back to West Michigan! 2 flights a day out to Chicago and coming back and the flight is mostly empty so never have to worry about a oversold flight unless it's a holiday or some crazy circumstances happen. The cafe is currently closed right now and doesn't look like anything will be moving in there anytime soon but for how small the airport is I don't believe it's that big of an issue. The only other downside I have to this airport is the bathrooms are outside of TSA so if you have to go, do it before going through TSA. Otherwise you have to have your boarding pass and ID to go back through TSA. Minus the little things, I love this quaint airport. The flight in and out is beautiful and the airport is always kept clean. Love Muskegon country airport!

Love this airport! It is stress free and has polite employees. The Brownstone is a really cute restaurant and they serve a nice menu. There are only two flights a day to ORD.
My only complaint it BAGGAGE CLAIM. It can take 40+min even when there is only eight passengersHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrea M.Muskegon, MI2223Aug 7, 2018
They are not helpful at all. My trip with United Airlines was delayed and then cancelled again. I called Muskegon Airport and the woman who answered, Rita, was rude and said she couldn't help me. What is she there for? She sounded like she was annoyed that she had to even pick up the phone. Muskegon is not a busy airport so they have plenty of time on their hands. It seems everyone wants to get paid for doing nothing. We all have to work at work...get over it and be accommodating or get a different job.i

Fast, painless, easy. The only way to go between Chicago and western Michigan, especially locations north or east of Holland. Amtrak has funky hours and is never on time (and its 3+ hours), then you have to drive to your destination.

Nice little airport with only 2 flights in/out to Chicago daily. Key word here is one...one check-in desk, one cafe, one baggage carousel, one terminal, and best of all one security line. Parking is a breeze, no need to arrive 2 hrs ahead of time. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I really wish there were other small airports like this in other places.
