Event Description:
Counterpart Meeting, Wednesday, October 5, noon, Holiday Inn, 940 W. Savidge St, Spring Lake, Michigan. Counterpart’s October 5 meeting will feature a program on “Ski for Light,” an organization that works with visually challenged people to help them experience cross-country skiing. Melinda Hollands from Traverse City will also share her own experiences as a legally blind person. In addition, The Center for Women in Transition (CWIT) will be collecting gently used fall/winter clothes and accessories for the Winter Clothing Drive. CWIT will have a van at the entrance to the Holiday Inn to collect your donations from 11:30 to noon. Receipts are available on request. Clean out your closets and put those little-worn outfits and accessories to good use. At CWIT, women can visit the “Wardrobe for Work” and are assisted in selecting several outfits that can be worn for interviews and work attire. CWIT is also in need of personal care products and gently used towels. Reservations are required for the meeting at the Spring Lake Holiday Inn, and are due no later than noon October 3 (the Monday prior to the luncheon). Guests are welcome. To make or cancel reservations, email Martha Roldan: keltyroldan@msn.com or call her at (616) 607-9205. The $11.00 luncheon fee is due at the door. Please note that Counterpart is charged for each lunch ordered, so if you have a reservation, payment for your meal is due even if you cannot attend. Public wishing to hear the program without attending the luncheon are welcome to attend at no cost and should arrive by 12:30. Counterpart is a local women’s organization whose mission is networking, broadening knowledge of our world, and providing support for local women and children. For information about membership and past programs, please visit our website at www.mycounterpart.wordpress.com or call President Barb Dryer at 846-6402.
