Event Description:
Downtown Grand Haven comes alive with local artists and musicians displaying their talents in more than 6 locally owned businesses. Start your evening at C2C Gallery, where you can listen to live music by Bill Ellingboe; plus the opening exhibit titled “A Blooming Mind” by West Michigan artist, Stacy Pearson. Stacy Pearson is a botanical illustrator, graphite artist, and painter living with her family in Grand Haven, MI. "Our incredible state and it's abundant outdoor beauty have been my inspiration, my playground, and my classroom. For me, drawing in hyper detail slows the busy, tech-crazed buzz of the world; it is incredibly grounding. You'll find bugs, bees, and blooms that have captured my imagination via drafting pencil and paper. Painting has the same affect on my soul, but with a much more mercurial process. In both development and product, my paintings reflect the unpredictable spirit and strength of Lake Michigan. I've walked countless hours on Grand Haven's beaches taking in the ever-changing moods of Lake Michigan’s waters and turning it back to canvas in watercolor and acrylic. Earth and water, bud and wave, this collection, "A Blooming Mind", is in total about taking time to pause even for a moment to reflect on the miracles that flourish around us every day. Bill Ellingboe is a songwriter and musician from Michigan. He attended Notre Dame and formed a band there while attending college. After graduating, he spent time in the Air Force; lived out west; and fell in love with Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle and John Prine. In 2009, he moved back to Michigan, keeping a busy schedule playing music locally. Gallery Uptown is hosting an exhibit titled: “The Local Scene”. Charles Norkoli and Randi McCracken Northman – photography. Bonnie Brentz, Lynne Boezaart, and Kevin Collander – painting. The Grand Theater Bar is hosting paintings by Denise LeClaire.
