Event Description: Exhibit: Community Art Hop in Downtown Grand Haven Live Music: Nick Kraus and Miss Kathleen, at C2C Gallery Location: Downtown Grand Haven Date: August 7, 2015; 6-8pm. Music starts at 6pm. First Friday Art Hop in Downtown Grand Haven is growing. Visit downtown and learn about local artists and their artwork. More than nine businesses are providing space for these West Michigan artists to show their work between 6 and 8 pm. C2C Gallery is hosting Dianne Wolter, a Williamston artist who creates both paintings and three dimensional Papier-mâché sculptural work. Dianne says: “Painting provides me a process driven opportunity to experiment, discover, manipulate, play, and sometimes even tell a story. I value mark making and like to see evidence of the history of the process in the finished painting. Narrative has been a component of my art that allows me to ask questions and make observations. I use whimsy as a means to enliven or to soften the content. Recurring themes and images return to new environments. Images that possess a personal iconography are infused with content from experiences and memories that hold power. I begin by creating an active ground plane and then working out to the surface, sometimes finding rather than imposing imagery. I enjoy working figuratively, layering, searching for ideas and inspiration from the manipulation of the media, and often but not always embracing a narrative.” There will be live music at C2C Gallery. The talented Grand Haven couple, Nick Kraus and Miss Kathleen will offer an acoustic blend of alt-country, rock, blues, Jazz and folk. In other words, all things Americana. Nick's lead vocals are backed by the sweet harmonies of wife Kathleen, creating a sound that is both unique and yet subtly reminiscent of the glory days of Johnny Cash and June Carter. The Theater Bar is hosting Randi Ford’s Landscapes. Come out and see several works by this fine painter, and for a chance to meet the artist! "The natural beauties of life inspire my work. With these pieces I wanted to capture the diverse and beautiful landscapes that are unique to Michigan. I hiked at various parks throughout Michigan to find the perfect locations to create each gouache painting amongst nature, as well as created the acrylic pieces in my studio from photographs I have taken. With these pieces, I hope to bring a sense of appreciation to our beautiful state and the life that lives here." Gallery Uptown opens their show “Fabric 2” also on August 7. C2C Gallery is an art gallery with a working ceramic studio located in downtown Grand Haven. Each month, we feature a Midwest artist reception on the First Friday of each month. On these First Fridays, in addition to the featured artist, we host local live music. C2C organizes First Friday Art Hop for the area merchants.
