Event Description: Author and Spring Lake attorney Ed Grafton, who writes under the pen name Henry Granger, will talk about the research and travels undertaken to prepare for writing his book, Men of Good Will, a historical thriller on USCG Cutter Escanaba . Granger’s photo illustrated presentation will complement the upcoming 225th Anniversary Celebration of the Coast Guard during this year's Festival. The Escanaba served on the Great Lakes and was docked in Grand Haven until the beginning of World War II. The icebreaker was pressed into wartime service and exploded and sank while on convoy duty during June of 1943. Granger will discuss his investigations into the sinking of the Escanaba and the history surrounding the event. Books will be available to purchase and sign following his program.
