Event Description:
Live Music: Karisa Wilson, Grand Rapids musician. Free Event Location: C2C Gallery, 104 Washington, Grand Haven Date: May 22, 2015; 6-8pm. C2C Gallery is thrilled to host Karisa Sprite, a much loved Grand Rapids musician. Karisa has performed many times at C2C. In 2011, She helped us introduce the gallery to Grand Haven. Karisa Wilson, performing “The Rising” Karisa Wilson is an award winning singer-songwriter from Michigan. Her debut album “Little Girl” won the WYCE’s Album of the Year Jammie, one of Michigan’s most prestigious indie music awards. Karisa writes and performs a blend of Indie Folk, jazz and blues. She’s also a classically trained violinist. Karisa has been a teacher to many in the tri-cities area. As she played local gigs in West Michigan, demand for her unique soulful blend of jazz, blues and folk—think eclectic Americana—grew. Karisa performs solo and with a band. She has shared the stage with national artists Ziggy Marley, Pat Benatar, Sam Phillips, Billy Bob Thornton, and has performed for Barack Obama. She has performed and recorded with national artist Brian VanderArk (The Verve Pipe), and has often been a featured artist in the Meijer Garden’s Tuesday Summer Concert series. Favorite venues include, Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, The Living Room and The Bitter End in New York City, Wheatland Festival, and Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake, MI. Please help us celebrate our 4th year in business and our fourth year of hosting Karisa Wilson at C2C Gallery. C2C Gallery is an art gallery with a working ceramic studio located in downtown Grand Haven. Each month, we feature a Midwest artist reception on the First Friday of each month. On these First Fridays, in addition to the featured artist, we host local live music. We offer more than 35 acclaimed Michigan artisans in ceramics, photography, paintings, hand blown and fused glass, hand fabricated silver jewelry, hand painted scarves, wood sculpture, and textiles.
