Event Description:
Grand Haven, Michigan (March 31, 2015) C2C Gallery, Julie Sanford Designs, and the Creative Fringe are hosting the 4th Annual GHHS Ceramic and Jewelry Show on Tuesday, March 31 and First Friday Art Hop, April 3. On March 31, families and participating students are invited to attend the Opening Evening recognizing their creative talents. More than15 ceramic forms and 15 jewelry creations have been selected for this exhibit. The show will remain on display through the third week in April. On April 1, the exhibit will be split between two locations. All student jewelry will be on display at Creative Fringe. All student ceramic work will be on display at C2C Gallery. Sheri Greene, GHHS ceramics instructor, says, “The students represented in the show have taken 1 or 2 high school ceramics and jewelry courses. Of these students, only one student selected is taking a third level course. These students have created some outstanding art works, especially when considering their level of experience as beginners in the ceramic and jewelry making mediums. They are talented, creative and hardworking. The students' are encouraged to develop their ideas by researching and planning as initial steps in the artistic process. They may gain inspiration from a wide range of resources including found objects, photos and digital images, other artists' work, process sketches, and experimentation. Mrs. Sipe, GHHS jewelry instructor, and I are privileged to be their teachers and have so enjoyed being able to mentor their artistic development and getting to know them as people. They have much to offer and we are proud to present their work in a public and professional venue. Thank you to Cyndi Casemier, whose brainchild it was to have this show and make it an annual event, and to the generosity of the gallery owners involved.” “I am amazed each year with the creative ideas that the students show in their work,” says Cyndi Casemier, owner of C2C Gallery. “Grand Haven families are very fortunate to have these classes available to their children.” In 2014, Jewelry was added to the competition. Irene Sipes, Grand Haven High School jewelry instructor, teaches bead wrapping with wire, small loom beadwork, and metalwork. Julie Sanford, Sanford Design, juliesanforddesigns.com, and Stacy Broas, The Creative Fringe, thecreativefringe.com, join us this year as jurors.
